Haunted House: A Poem
Sunday, October 1, 2017
"October is the fallen leaf, but it is also a wider horizon more clearly seen. It is the distant hills once more in sight, and the enduring constellations above them once again."
I moved into a haunted house,
in which lived a ghostly mouse,
I rescued an orange and black Halloween cat,
to frighten the mouse out of my house.
The cat and mouse became the best of friends,
together they chase my neighbor's hens,
frighten the pit bulls,
and demand I feed the spoonfuls
of salmon and cheese.
