Prompt: "People say I got a drinkin' problem, But I got no problem drinkin' at all, They keep on talkin', Drawing conclusions, They call it a problem, I call it a solution." ~ Midland
Your thoughts on this lyric. How do you help someone with a problem? Can they be helped or do they have to hit rock bottom? "
As a recovering addict I know that the best way to help somebody with an addiction is to let them suffer the consequences of their behavior. All so often enablers want to help them get to bed at night or help them get their drugs or whatever. Do nothing for them. Don't pay their bills for them. Don't give them money. Don't help them in any way. When they suffer enough consequences they'll start asking themselves if it is worth it. This will help them find their bottom. Even this is no guarantee. Sometimes you have to watch somebody die in the disease because addiction is a disease. I know from personal experience.
