DAY 1848: Psychologists claim that some people feel they don’t deserve to be happy. Why do you think this is and what may be the reason or reasons some people feel this way to undermine their own happiness? Happiness Everyone deserves to be happy. Each individual has their own reasons for being either happy or unhappy, so I can't say why someone else would think they didn't deserve happiness. One problem may be the duality of human nature, since human beings have both a physical body and a spiritual soul, we have two natures. The ego, which is part of the physical, and the soul/spirit, which goes beyond the physical nature into the spiritual realm. Happiness is a spiritual attribute that comes from the soul and is part of the spiritual nature of the human being. Unhappiness is part of the physical nature because the ego doesn't find joy in anything except feeding its passions and desires. God! Refresh and gladden my spirit. Purify my heart. Illumine my powers. I lay all my affairs in Thy hand. Thou art my Guide and my Refuge. I will no longer be sorrowful and grieved; I will be a happy and joyful being. O God! I will no longer be full of anxiety, nor will I let trouble harass me. I will not dwell on the unpleasant things of life. O God! Thou art more friend to me than I am to myself. I dedicate myself to Thee, O Lord. Whenever I am unhappy, I recite or read the above prayer reveal by 'Abdu'l-Baha, and my mood changes. My mood changes because I have placed any situation that is making me unhappy in God's hands. The things I like about this prayer is its emphasize on being the joyful and happy. Human beings will always be unhappy if they focus exclusively on their material/physical natures. However, focusing on God--by whatever name the Unknowable Creator is called--will bring happiness.
DAY 2241: Pick a title either (1) Happy Monday or (2) Blessed Monday and write about the reason Monday is either happy or blessed. Happy Monday  It is the first Monday in 2019. I had a banana with my coffee this morning. There are 294 days until October 29 and the bicentenary celebration of the Birth of the Bab. I have 56,462 GPs in my Gift Points account this morning. I was able to extend my writing.com membership for 12-manoths on January 1, 2019. I discovered 5 Ways to Make 2019 a Really Happy New Year  by Kathy Roman on BahaiTeaching.org listing ways to make 2019 a happier year. I posted this week's writing goals to "Weekly Goals" . I finished today's "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" prompt, "First Actions on a Desert Island" and posted it. I was able to make two entries in "I Blog Poetry and Prose" today.Believer's Meditation O my Lord, Worth of Thy blessing Thou has called me! Though I know not how this can be. I who have let the enemy in And barred the Friend. Yet worthy Thou has called me, So worthy I must be. Footnotes |
