"June 24, 2019"     Prompt: rose, honeysuckle, pearl, alexandrite, and moonstone. The flowers are the birth flowers for June and the gems the birthstones.Ah, and here I thought I was the flower of June and the jewel of June! My birthday was June 9 so as a June baby I thought I was all of those things! I know that each of us are all those things in God's eyes. His miracles never cease in my life. Just yesterday He blew me away. I recently began working for a homeless coalition here in town as a peer support specialist. One need that became readily apparent was the need for sleeping bags for the homeless. I asked my church men's club to donate some sleeping bags. As treasurer I knew that we would have to do a fundraiser. The men were all for it and told me to ask our corps commander (preacher) about doing it. She did me one better. Another corps has 100 sleeping bags they wanted to give away so she coordinated for us to donate them! God blew me away with that one! My corps commander also told me she was filing the paperwork to commission me as a local officer. I will be the Community Care Coordinator and adult Sunday school teacher. As the CCC I will work with other agencies in the community to coordinate our efforts at meeting needs. In other words I will do for the church what I do for individuals at work!  |
