January 14, 2020 I Assume . . .
PROMPT January 14th

"Assuming I had all the time in the world, I didn't . . . ."

How many times have I begun a sentence like that? Too numerous to count. Often, after the death of someone, I meant to keep in touch with.

I can't focus on any isolated incident to share, failed assumptions just seem like a part of everyday living. We make assumptions based on the set of facts at hand, but we never have all of the facts. There are other players in the game. No matter how prepared, how skilled or not, we may be, we are never guaranteed a specific outcome. There is the old saying "When you assume, you make an ass out of u and me." We've all heard it, we nod our heads in agreement, maybe even smile a little thinking of the last time we did it. Yet we go on making assumptions daily because otherwise, we can't move forward.

I assume each night when I go to bed, I will get up in the morning. I know that one day, that will not be true, but it has worked for me so far.

I'm now going to read other blogs from this prompt and I am making an assumption that there will be at least one funny one, there will be more serious ones and I assume at least one other will use the quote about the ass we make of ourselves. Those are the set of facts, known from this past month taking part in this forum. I don't think this assumption will fail me, but you might have all come up with something funny, or no one is going to bring me a chuckle. I can't, dead certain, predict any outcome and that's OK. I can only assume.
