Human Versus Computer

Human Versus Computer

In 1978 came the 16-bit chip providing 29,000 transistors. Many of us thought that was something! But, in 2006, the 64-bit hit bringing in 291 million transistors. In 2019, the largest transistor count in a commercially available microprocessor (Rome chip) was 39.54 billion. It is hard for my brain to comprehend that number.

It is mind-boggling when you think of all the things that have computers in them. If you went through your house and removed all those processor-running items, what would be left? In my home, out would go my coffeemaker for starters (no way). My laptop would have to go and of course, my phone. If we go to the garage, out goes my car. I remember my late husband saying that once computer were put into cars, he was through working on them.

One might ask, how fast is the human brain compared to a computer? I read that in terms of spikes and synaptic transmission, the brain can perform at most about a thousand basic operations per second (that is amazing in its own right), or 10 million times slower than the computer. Wow, that puts a better light on the term "over load" for me. I believe our Creator set a limit for our processors to avoid possible burn out or blow out; at least while we are on this planet! Who knows what we will be capable of in our new suits when our Creator comes back.
