My Worst Yesterday Ever
My Worst Yesterday Ever

I don’t know if this was the worst yesterday that I have ever had. But it sure did feel that way to me. From the second that I got there to the end of my shift, it was one problem after another. In fact, it was so bad that I had to write up two Incident Reports. And the second IR was related to the first one. Those are just two of the problems that I had yesterday at work.

It all started before I even got to work. I barely got there in time because it took me so long to get my drink and what I was going to eat. When I got there, there was another big problem with my old new post. Something happened on Monday too. And that was my fault too. Even though I wasn’t working at the time of the problems I still get blamed for them.

The latest problem isn’t why I had to write those two IRs, though. It all started at the end of the first half of my shift. That’s when I got a call from my Shift Supervisor about a problem that wasn’t my fault. Yet I got the blame for it. I pointed that out in my first IR too. I know that nothing will become of it. But it still felt good to write it that way. True, it might get me fired from this post. Maybe even from the company that I work for. But I doubt it.

My second IR happened about forty-five minutes before I was supposed to leave for the day. An IR that I barely got finished before the end of my shift yesterday. Why did it take me so long to write it? What is the usual reason? That is right. It was work. It’s also the reason why I had to write it. After all, it was extremely busy at work yesterday.

I knew that it was going to be extremely busy even before I saw the latest problem that I was going to get blamed for. That’s because it was already very busy. And it only got worse from there. The first hour was very, very busy. It got a tiny bit better in the second hour. But not by too much. The third and fourth hours slowed down a little bit more. Not that much more either. It was still very busy during those two hours too.

The second half of my shift was even worse than that. Mostly because I was on my feet almost constantly. About the only time I wasn’t was when I was updating the paperwork for that day. And that happened a lot too. Unfortunately, I was still on my feet about forty-five to fifty minutes of each hour. I’m kind of surprised that my gout didn’t start acting up again like it did last week on Wednesday and Thursday.

Why was I on my feet so much during the second half of my shift? It was because of the first IR that I had to write. It’s the reason for the second IR too. I was continuously going from one side of my post to the other. As soon as I got done with one side, I had to go to the other one. That’s how extremely busy it was during the second half of my shift yesterday.

Who knows what is going to happen to me at work today? If it’s anything like the last couple of days, they may get their wish. And I may end up dead. I don’t think that’s going to happen, though. They may hope that it will. But I’m not going to let that happen. No matter how bad it gets today, that isn’t going to happen. If they think that I’m slow now, they haven’t seen anything yet.
