The Slowest Yesterday of the Year
The Slowest
Yesterday
of the Year

December twenty-fifth is the slowest day of the year. At least it was this year where I work. I can’t remember how busy it was at work last year on Christmas. But I have a feeling that it was about the same. Maybe a little bit less than this year depending on the day of the week and the post that I was working at. Which was probably my normal post.

Whenever and what post it was at last year doesn’t really matter. It’s this year that does. And it was the slowest. Well, that isn’t exactly true. It still was the slowest. But it wasn’t that way all my shift yesterday at work. The first five hours were extra extreme slow. In fact, it was only a tiny bit busy during those hours. But the last three did pick up a little more.

It was still a whole lot slower than it usually is at this post. But it did get slightly busier during that time. Not enough to stop me from writing. Only that isn’t the reason why I didn’t get any writing done yesterday on my Water Wars scriptwriting project.

Besides it being too busy at work to get any writing done, what is the usual reason why I don’t do it? If you guessed how I felt, the lack of concentration, the lack of sleep, or depression, then you may be right. But it wasn’t any of those. It may have been a lack of concentration a little bit, though. I didn’t have that problem. But I probably would have if I did try to do any writing.

So, what is the reason why? It was because of me and the company that I work for. I had every intention of getting some writing done. And I did take out my writing supplies. But I didn’t get any of it done. Of course, I knew that I wouldn’t be doing it while I watched Wonder Woman 1984 on my cell phone. I did plan on doing it when I started watching Soylent Green and Logan’s Run, though.

Both of these movies I haven’t seen in quite a while. But I figured that I would get some writing done on this project while watching them. Only I didn’t. why didn’t I? That I don’t know. I was going to start writing right after I started watching Soylent Green. But once I started watching it, I didn’t start writing. And I don’t know why I didn’t start doing it.

Maybe it’s a good thing that I didn’t do any writing at work yesterday, though. Why am I writing that? It’s because of who I work for. Shortly after I started watching Logan’s Run my replacement showed up. He left soon after that and didn’t return for a couple of hours. But I didn’t know that at that time. And by the time that I did, it was too late. At least I got that movie finished before he showed up again. But I barely got it done.

Writing or not writing, it was still a very good yesterday for me. After all, it was the last yesterday that I would be working at that post. For a very, very, very, very, very long time. Today I’m going back to working my normal post again. So, there is an extremely good chance that I may get a lot of writing done today. And it won’t be because of it being a Saturday. It will be because of how I’m feeling.
