Write about something antique or inherited that you own. Who owned it before you? Where did it come from? What’s its story?

My mother left to me in her will her collection of fine China.
The dinner set is Crown Derby China. It’s beautifully hand painted in reds and gold. Far too good to use. It sits in a glass cabinet and although I’d never dare use it, I look at it and it reminds me of Mum. She collected each piece separately when she could afford to purchase it.
It’s the only heirloom I have and will pass it on to my daughters.
