E-3: We Are All Mad Here
Where cats wag their tails when angry and growl when pleased. Write about a day when everything was completely opposite to what you expect. Short story (<500 words) or poem (<40 lines).
This morning when I woke at dawn,
I felt my eyelids close,
but though I didn't lift my lids
I also didn't doze.
My mind was working way too fast
for sleeping, I suppose.
For breakfast I had dinner food,
for dinner, breakfast fare,
and though my tastebuds wondered why
I stayed within my chair.
At least I'd ate and insulined
and so I didn't care.
I slept my work throughout the day
and waked a dream at night,
and wondered as I wandered there,
could this really be right?
Could I really work so hard
and never see the light?
I felt the weight of questions churning
deep within my gut.
I shook my head and wondered why
and where and how and what,
until in panic, I awoke . . .
and felt my eyelids shut . . .
