Poems and prose for various contests over the course of the decade. |
I have fought the battle; Stood firm in my love of God; Risen above being a mere mortal. Winged beasts take my body, Now wrapped and swaddled. It is broken and stained from the ravages of war They lift it up to be burned in the fires Where I can be purified Cleansed of this life. My spirit fully released. I am ready to meet my God - Face His judgement And pass through the eye of the needle, Through the gates of heaven, Into eternal peace and tranquility. I am ready to show that my life here on this earth Has not been in vain. I have brought my light into the world. Sometimes it has flickered And I have found solace in others' strength; Other times it has burned strong And been a beacon for others Who have needed that same reminder That reminder to rise up And carry on. I have been His hands and feet; I have served others, In the hopes of showing God's fine love To those who are blind and cannot to see. They need to see if they are to be saved. His strength has carried me Through the darkness That has tried to prevail... But we have won! Darkness has been beaten back. Light cascades down from the heavens; Hope is reborn. I am reborn. From the ashes I rise. Lines = 40. Notes: ▼ |
