"I don't think that either Biden or DJT were the worse candidates. Both reflect a slice of American society. What I do think is that there's a total disdain for those who govern. On fb (especially in Montana) there are many who are nostalgic for a false Wild West past where guns not people ruled. Others want to be told by dictators (the one's who agree with them and war on their enemies). This is global not just here. The rise of Orban, Putin, Erdogan and DJT is a global phenomenon. So, #1 all leaders are vilified because 'we don't need them' (looking at you, Libertarians), #2 'us versus them' (the culture wars stoked by the Christian exceptionalists who took over the GOP versus multi-culturalists seeking refuge in the Dem), #3 the constantly miserable idealists for whom anything less than 100% is unacceptable (the Progressives).

"You and Richard misread me. #1. No, racism and hatred is NOT acceptable whether, individuals like DJT, your local church or local leader (here's looking at you Orban & Erdogan) or dictator (Xi Jingping). It's not okay when a majority takes away human rights (hmm... Switzerland) or slaughters its own people (the USA again and again and again) no matter whether that's supported by 10% or 90%. Germans were complicit with the Holocaust not because they supported it but because they didn't stop it! #2. Biden and DJT, add Obama and Bush, all represent a 'facet' of American society. Sorry if the word 'slice' confused you. #3 I've addressed racism and hatred for 40 years... in case your friends are not aware of that by now."
