My parent’s first home was a little rental on Satin Street. I remember a bedroom on the second floor. It was unfinished and there were canning jars full of food along the bottom of the walls. I seem to remember ‘Howdy Doody’ on the TV set.

They say I commented on my newborn sister’s arrival home. I was three years old. “Take it back, I don’t want it.” Prophetic words indeed.
