Why should we fear God?

I feel that God loves us and we shouldn't be afraid of him but we are his children and we need to be righteous. We need to serve him and so we fear him. If we didn't, we would be sinning and not following him and Jesus. We can fear him and love him at the same time. If we have God, we shouldn't fear anything else but we do. I pray and I ask God to take away my fears all the time. I pray he turns my anxieties and stress into trust and faith.
