Cloudy
Cloudy
Such a kind face, something familiar
in her smile, in her eyes, in
the hopeful music of her voice
as she speaks to me in names
that embrace me like a warm haze.
They are rays of light of distant origin
filtered through clouds of memory.
I feel them but do not see them.
She will come again, she promises
as she grasps my hand.
I am embarrassed to give it
my fingers, all knuckles and blue lines,
embarrassed that I do not remember her name.
She reminds me of someone I loved
once, when these hands were strong.
