What are miracles?

Have you ever experienced a miracle in your own life?

About This Newsletter

"Miracles happen everyday, change your perception of what a miracle is and you'll see them all around you."
Jon Bon Jovi

"Miracles occur naturally as expressions of love. The real miracle is the love that inspires them. In this sense everything that comes from love is a miracle."
Marianne Williamson

"I am not embarrassed to tell you that I believe in miracles."
Corazon Aquino

"The greatest miracle of all time, without any close seconds, is the universe. It is the miracle of all miracles, one that ineluctably points with the combined brightness of every star to something - or Someone - beyond itself."
Eric Metaxas

"Miracles do not, in fact, break the laws of nature."
C. S. Lewis

Letter From the Editor

What are miracles? After looking at several definitions of miracles, I have come to the conclusion that a miracle is something that we cannot explain by known natural or scientific laws. That is my own definition of a miracle. I decided on this definition because none of the definitions in ordinary dictionaries or philosophy dictionaries appeared to be a true definition of a miracle.

Have you ever experienced a miracle in your own life? I have experienced, at least, one miracle in my life. I would not be alive today if it were not for the miracle of my Grandfather finding me hiding in an old refrigerator and rescuing me. How he knew where to look for me, I have no idea. I did not think of asking him when the event happened or while he was still alive.

Miracles happen every day, and sometimes they even make the news. True the news outlets do not refer to them as miracles, but that does not mean they are not miracles. An example, is a recent incident in Canada. A woman was asleep, when a horrid noise woke her up. There was a hole in her roof, and a small meteor next to her in the bed. Her survival was a miracle because the meteor could have landed on her head.

If we do not see the miracles occurring in our own lives, we need to take a few minutes to look at the world through the eyes of love and gratitude. Get up early and watch the sun rise. Look into the eyes of a child. Check out the most recent scientific or medical discovery. There are miracles occurring all around us, we just have to open our eyes and our hearts to see them.

What are some of the big or little miracles in your life or in the world around you?

Mary Ann MCPhedran writes: THANK YOU for sharing your well written newsletter about patience, and sometimes many times I lack patience, My writing doesn't go the way I want it to go, and I lose patience and i=I lose patience and give up. But later i ask God to help me. i thank the Lord when he answers my prayers. I thank my God for, seeing my poem in this newsletter or I was on a downward slope. Thank you so much it has given me hope that my inspiration is returning. Keep writing and may the Lord keep you safe. MARY ANN MCPHEDRAN/fearless.

Elfin Dragon-finally published writes: Patience. I grew up a Navy Brat and learned that patience is a part of life. My dad had a habit of dropping me off places at least an hour before I had to be there. And now I have a habit of being places at least 30 minutes before I need to be. The weird thing, though, is that I hate waiting around to go places. I get itchy feet. I would rather wait at my destination than at home.

Kenzie writes: I was always taught to tread lightly when asking for patience, for we might be given even more to try our patience.
