Listening to the Voice
of 'Abdu'l-Baha

I closes my eyes
and listen to the recording of his voice,
as he chants prayers
and Holy Scriptures in his native tongue.

I listen to the tone of his voice,
to the way he intones supplications,
praise,
and gratitude
in in Farsi.

I hear the echoes of his love
for God,
Baha'u'llah,
and humanity.

I replay the video,
with my eyes open,
and watch the pictures
taken of him
when he visited North America
in 1912.

         O Thou All-Glorious Lord,
         thank you
         for the technology
         that reveals 'Abdu'l-Baha's
         Christ-like love
         for humanity.
