Alarming
Dreams drowning in
a sonorous droning
of nasal pillow nuzzling,
of snorts and snuffling -
a phlegm-fueled symphony,
the hypnotic music of the night.
Suddenly, morning breaks
with a shrill jing-jangle
a screeching warning
a tireless nagging.
A cry to wakefulness
that tosses and turns me.
Then leaves me to wrangle,
the sheets all in a tangle.
Enraged, I kill it
with just one blow.
Silence is mine
until tomorrow.
