Where Have I Been?

I have maintained my membership on WDC, but I have not done right by myself. I have not been writing.

Since last I contributed to my blog much has happened.

I am a bit older. I have had another disk repaired in my back, or more accurately, my neck this time. I have been promoted again at work. I am approaching a time when I can retire. In just a year or two I will be able to seek another employer. I will arrive at fifty-five years old precisely when I must in order to achieve the points needed to retire without penalty. I will be well on my way to a completing a second career. I remember being the young idiot, always willing to damage myself so long as someone saw my feats. Now, I am paying, but I will say this: even though I cold have protected my body so much more-- I would do everything almost exactly as I did for the fun of it all was invaluable.

I really must get back to writing. I have much material saved in folders here and there-- things I could compile, create, and share.

I must also begin repairing my body.

The last surgery to my neck went well, but I learned long ago that recovery is long, and premature efforts can be punishing. I know, though, that the time is now. It is time to stretch, to lose weight, and to grow strong and fast once more. I should not take the opportunity for granted. Such opportunities will one day be gone.
