Two Pennies in a Pocket. One newly minted, one over a century old.

Two Pennies in a pocket.
One newly minted,
One over a century old.
Both in the same pocket.

New one has an image,
Of a man with a beard,
Who freed the slaves,
And a shield on the back.

Two Pennies in a pocket.
One newly minted,
One over a century old.
Both in the same pocket.

Old one has an image,
Of a man wearing feathers,
Who was a fierce warrior,
And wheat on the back.

Two Pennies in a pocket.
One newly minted,
One over a century old.
Both in the same pocket.

New Penny looks at the Old,
“What have you seen?”
He asks the other,
As they move along.

Two Pennies in a pocket.
One newly minted,
One over a century old.
Both in the same pocket.

Old Penny looks at the New,
“Many wars I’ve seen,
Good times and Bad.
You’ll see them too.”
