A Repository for all things related to Andre's Banana Bar shenanigans |
"The Bard's Hall Contest" I'm also posting this Blog in The Bard's Hall Contest for June 2022. Write an entry about a camping adventure in the forest with Andre. Use at least six of these words in your entry: tent, campfire, shadow, noise, tree, sleeping bag, cereal, backpack, trash, bear, owl, flashlight, camera, wooden spoon. I'd reserved a backcountry campsite in Yellowstone this year. As I made my way to site 1A3 at Lava Creek, I made sure to make lots of noise on the trail. You don't want to come across a bear by mistake. So Andre and I sing songs, bang a wooden spoon on trees as we walk along the trail. Once we reach the campsite, I set up the tent. Andre goes up the tree that has a bear pole, like a good monkey. Camping in bear country you have to secure your food packs to a bear pole, at least 12 feet off the ground and at least 4 feet from the tree. So we settle into our tent, make sure the food is secure on the bear pole, get the flashlight beside our sleeping bags, then head out of the tent to start a campfire. We're having a grand time, singing songs, poking sticks into the fire, when suddenly a huge owl swoops down and grabs Andre. The last sounds I heard were "ASDMF!" and then "Whoooo! WHOOO!" Then nothing. I'll look in the morning for that crazy monkey. Until then, I'm going to enjoy some peace and quiet. With no meddlesome monkey on my back. W/C 196 |
