I was reading in 1 Kings, but then I felt led by the Holy Spirit to read some chapters in the New Testament. I have been asking God how I should go about praying for healing of my health issues. I was led to where Jesus prayed at the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus prayed, "If it be thy will, let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but thine be done." I think God wants us to ask him for healing with faith, but reality is that not everyone is healed instantaneously. We know God is capable of healing us since he created us. We don't always know the reason for our illnesses and suffering. We can know that God will be glorified rather it was for our sin, someone else's sin, to teach us, or for ministry or testing. We can be sure good will become of it even if we don't see it or understand it right now. So instead of demanding or trying to manipulate God, we yield to his will. Father, if it be your will, let this illness, problem, or heartache pass from me. Nevertheless, not my will but yours be done. In the meantime, God will be there with you through it all. We are to live in his presence at all times even if we don't feel like he is there. If I live or die, I am in his presence, and he is in control. Are you willing to suffer and be uncomfortable to be in his presence and in his will? I am.
