Just things that I think about now and then.

Taking up the Cross
I'm sure there is a correlation between having peace in your mind, and lower blood pressure. That alone would make having a peaceful countenance worth it. But envy and it's companion strife does nothing for your health, and is indeed a "rot" in your life.

The poor have enough to deal with, oppressing them gains you no favor, here or in Heaven. The poor we shall have with us always, and it would be better to be a blessing, and to pray, rather than look down on them. Being kind doesn't have to cost a fortune, either. A kind word, respectful attitude go a long way. Yes, physical blessings are nice, but not always available.

Just my thoughts on this subject.

Proverbs 14:30 - A heart at peace gives life to the body,
but envy rots the bones. (31) Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker,
but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.
