Ah, the 60's

When I say 60's I mean I was born in 1966. My children give me (all in fun) grief about being "old" and "fragile". The decade of the 60s was quite the time: the Sixties was dominated by the Vietnam War, Civil Rights Protests, the 60s also saw the assassinations of US President John F Kennedy and Martin Luther King, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and finally ended on a good note when the first man is landed on the moon. Tumultuous times, indeed. Here I was just an itty-bitty when history was being made.

In music: Chubby Checker and the Twist. The Beatles formed in Liverpool in 1960, that comprised John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They are regarded as the most influential band of all time and were integral to the development of 1960s counterculture and popular music's recognition as an art form. A defining part of the British Invasion to the American Music Scene.

Mini skirts, suit skirts, "hippie" styles, and leopard prints were all the rage, and colorful ensembles were not just for the women; the men wore plenty of color too!

TV shows also included: I Dream of Jeannie, Star Trek, and Gilligan's Island, to name a few.
