Why is there Armagedon?

I was reminded of Tony the Turtle.
I remember watching Tony the Turtle hide in his shell.
He was hiding from a nuclear blast.
We were instructed by our home class teacher to hide under our tables.
"Duck! And cover!" the teacher shouted.

Even as a child I knew I was toast.
Cambridge, Massachusetts was a nuclear blast toaster.
Then, we marched to the fallout shelter in the grammar school.
There was canned food and can openers in the fallout shelter.
There were fallout shelters everywhere and they had a sign over them.

A square metal fallout sign was seen from the street.
The government provided the signs.
The subway was also a fallout shelter and had signs.
None of these fallout shelters exist today.
I suppose your expected to build your own.
That's easier said than done.

I put a paper bag over my head at home.
My mother took it off...
I was 5 or 6 years old.
I just didn't know what to do.
Mom and dad told me not to worry about it.
But I still do...
