Prompt 5 for GHA

Prompt 5: The Scream by Edvard Munch. Write your impressions of The Scream . How does it make you feel? What do you think the artist was trying to express?

I honestly don't know what to make of this picture. It was made in 1893 (129 years ago!) I've seen it a few times over the years, and it is not really a favorite of mine.

My impressions are that it reminds me of being in the hospital this summer...being in pain, not knowing anyone, words and phrases going by, hallucinations brought on by medicine that I'm allergic to. It is creepy, and very uncomfortable. I didn't know if I was coming or going, and the chaos was intense. After reading a little bit about it, he remarked in his diary about nature around him "screaming", and so he created this work.

Fear, anguish, feeling of falling into an abyss. The unknown. Ugh. I can imagine, although to be honest, I'd rather not go back to that. Nature screaming, to be sure that is still going on. But I don't think I will be dwelling on this picture unless it is an assignment. LOL.
