Article one: October 2022 "One Reason for Environmental Justice" Reference: https://freedomlibrary.hillsdale.edu/programs/cca-ii-the-great-reset/is-environm... Defining Environmental Justice means looking for equal distribution of environmental benefits no matter the race, monetary wealth, nationality, or status of a person. It includes defining pollution and ways to Manage pollution under fair distribution of pollution problems. Pollution often affects some parts of society worse than other parts. So, justice includes fair treatment of society regarding pollution and environmental waste, and environmental reset. Groups of environmental Justice protestors unified in 1982 in Warren County, North Carolina. Protests targeting environmental injustice within communities in the USA caused the start of the Environmental Justice movement. Some issues brought to the attention of the public were heat waves, induced weather crimes, deadly air pollutants, and illegal dumping of environmental contaminants. Recently established within the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), is the Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights Office. This is a long-awaited help for communities impacted by environmental injustice; actions by the new office include holding polluters legally accountable for civil rights violations. Other actions available are an ability to distribute funds and resources to communities that need resources to fight environmental pollution. Due to the recent Federal Inflation Reduction Act, funds are now available for the new office to oversee and distribute to underserved communities. Opening the new office puts a spotlight on the problems created in communities when environmental injustice is present. apondia#1781748 |
