So many lives in the balance
Needing, desiring a home
Safety, love, and discipline
Wanting to know they matter

Who has the courage to make a difference
In these fragile lives
To say "yes" in a world of "no"
To open a door so firmly closed

Troubled youth, upset teens
Lives on a dangerous edge
Could our time and patience
Give them the boost to succeed

A cost to bear, most certainly
Exasperating, more often than not
A price beyond pearls - definitely
Rewards not seen in this lifetime
