365 Days of Blessing _ February 1, 2023

Dear God,

Holy is Your name. You are love. You are Eternal Father. Blessed be Your name forever more. You call to Your children to receive more of You and wait. Where are we in our work? In our play? Busy. Distracted. But Your Wisdom is waiting. Your power is waiting. In Jesus, our authority is present. Help Your Church to get past the false teachings about "how," and "when" and help us to find our "Yes!" and "Amen."

ACTS 1:7-9

He (Jesus) said to them, “It is not for you to know times or season that the Father has fixed by His own authority.

But you will receive power when the Holy spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

And when He had said these things, as they were looking on, He was lifted up, and a cloud took Him out of their sight.

The worst teaching I received as a teen-ager was, "that was just for those folks back then. The Holy Spirit is not going to do that ever again." I trusted their insight, but later, almost too much later, I discovered there was an upside down logic to the teaching. The evidence they based their reasoning on was on what they saw. But...and this is the hilarious part, God was filling people with the power of the Holy Spirit all around them. O my Goodness, how sweet the denial.

Was this at the heart of their unbelief? "If I think it isn't so, then I can't be held accountable for what I haven't received." Maybe? But then, as it turns out, because I denied a God given truth, the amount of Truth I have tomorrow, is actually less than what I have today and soon I am the devil's minion, wondering why God has forsaken me. I don't know who said this, or maybe this is my own observation, once I begin living without the Truth, I begin living a lie. May the Lord have mercy on the Church.
