Americans Worship Ignorance P14 [GC]

Americans are wrong!

Lost an entire entry... just as I was finished... This is just a few thoughts so I can rewrite it. A week later: Unfortunately, I'm stressed and I have a deadline. And I'm angry.

Learn another language?

Hell yes.

The rest of the fucking world doesn't have a problem picking up skills. Language, art, music are all skills that make Humans less of an Ape. Americans think that their military power and wealth makes them exceptional, almost holy.

Get over yourselves!

The rest of the world knows that business is a cultural exchange and that language is necessary to negotiate. Monolinguals are at a distinct disadvantage. But Americans in their hubris worship ignorance.

Which language? Any will do.

1. Native (revive lost and marginalized languages, the people and their culture).
2. Immigrant (keep languages alive by encouraging bilingualism).
3. Minority (stop acting like there's only one English or that English is superior).
4. ASL (why not! Thai TV has incorporated deaf actors; many programs worldwide have interpreters).
5. No exceptions. (Americans think 4 classes is a burden? That's a cruel joke).

You know why you should learn Mandarin? NOW! Read #1-#5. The Chinese government is exterminating cultural diversity. What will be left will speak Mandarin. Don't speak it? Be left behind in your superior worship of ignorance!

One should learn culture as well. Necessary Good words, Bad words.

I want to reach level A2 in Thai.

Level A2 corresponds to basic users of the language, i.e. those able to communicate in everyday situations with commonly-used expressions and elementary vocabulary.

Ignorance isn't a great defense. Note Thai:

"How is your water buffalo (ควาย)"
"How is your cock (ควย)"

Foreigners make this mistake all the time. Guess which one is inappropriate.

But... Americans are better than anyone else and can say what they want to whomever whenever.
