Alone Again

Your letter came back -
Unopened, unread.
It's like nothing else mattered
But what you wanted.

I tried to explain my heart
To make you see
My point of view and
My desires and dreams.

You wanted none of it
It didn't matter one bit;
The returned letter made
You intentions quite clear.

So I shall cast it into the fire;
And start over once again.
Perhaps this time I will find someone
Who can give as well as take.
