Climate change is a complex entity. It is like a puzzle, you need all the pieces to understand it. "Climate change is progressing faster and its consequences are more devastating than first thought," writes the Tagesschau in an article about the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's report. Fair enough, but how does climate change happen? We, the people, are to blame for climate change. But there is another factor that causes the earth's temperature to rise: the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect prevents our earth from becoming an ice desert, because without it, the earth would be one thing above all: freezing cold. The greenhouse effect is the warming of the earth caused by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases reflect the heat radiation of the sun and are thus responsible for the warming of the earth. The heat radiation enters the atmosphere but cannot return to space because of the greenhouse gases. Unfortunately, emissions continue to increase. For example, emissions in the US increased by 1.3 per cent in 2022 compared to 2021.
