Hook Do you have a special holiday or holy day celebration in June? About This Newsletter June is upon us with Father's day and the solstice, plus a few Holy Days. Letter From the Editor June is a month to celebrate weddings, Father's Day, the Summer/Winter Solstice (depending on whether you live in the northern or the southern hemisphere), and holy days of several religions. The holiday a person celebrates depends on their cultural, religious, and social background. Fortunately, in the United States and a few other countries, we are free to celebrate or commemorate any holiday or holy day we want, as long as we do it in a manner that is dignified and safe. I will not be celebrating or commemorating any Holy Days in June. However, I will be commemorating Father's Day. Since both my Father and Grandfathers have ascended into the spiritual world, I will commemorate Father's Day with a prayer for the departed, a few tears, and a blog entry or poem. Those are the only ways I can remember my Father and Grandpa Frank, the father figure I remember from my childhood. For those of you who still have fathers or father figures in your lives, please let them know how much you appreciate them. One of the regrets I encounter every June is that I did not let Grandpa Frank know how much I appreciated his sacrifices for his grandchildren. The other regret is that I was unable to say good-by to my Father before he died. I learned about my Father's death when I did an internet search for him. How will you celebrate the joyous events of June? Do you have a special way to commemorate the solstice, Father's Day, or some other June holiday? With all the horrid events going on in the world, we--as individuals or families--need to take every opportunity to celebrate something in our lives. Will you be celebrating a wedding, an anniversary, a birthday, a Holy Day, Father's Day, or the solstice? Please let me know. Editors Picks
