My Feathered Friend and I
If I had a choice,
I know exactly what I'd be.
We have so much in common,
my feathered friend and me.

People think we're smart,
it must be in the eyes,
but honestly, we're faking it,
my feathered friend and I.

We're intrinsically nocturnal,
no 'early-birds' are we.
Our instinct is to stay up late,
my feathered friend and me.

We're not the best at singing,
as you might testify,
but we make our indelible mark,
my feathered friend and I.

Don't make us center of attention,
the background's where we'd rather be.
We're even happy just to watch,
my feathered friend and me.

People think it's cute,
though they cannot reason why,
when we tilt our heads off to one side,
my feathered friend and I.

In one respect we're opposite,
because I find distance hard to see,
but we both have vision deficiencies,
my feathered friend and me.

If I had a choice,
well, now you know the reason why,
We have so much in common, see,
my friend, the owl, and I.
