A Walk Through Connecticut
Connecticut is a state rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. It's compact enough that you can see a lot in a short amount of time. Below is a suggested walking tour itinerary through some of its key points of interest.

Please note that the distances between these locations might be too long to walk, so you may need a car or public transportation to get between cities, towns, and attractions. Always check opening times, ticket availability, and COVID-19 guidelines before you visit.

Day 1: Start in Hartford

Connecticut State Capitol: Begin your tour at the State Capitol. This National Historic Landmark houses the State Senate and House of Representatives.

Bushnell Park: Next, visit the nearby Bushnell Park, the first publicly funded park in the US. Check out the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch and the historic carousel.

The Mark Twain House & Museum: A short distance away is the home of famed American author Mark Twain, which now serves as a museum.

Day 2: Farmington

Hill-Stead Museum: Just a short drive from Hartford, the Hill-Stead is a Colonial Revival house and art museum set on a large estate.

Farmington River Trail: Follow the walking trail along the river for some beautiful natural scenery.

Day 3: New Haven

Yale University: Visit one of the world's most prestigious universities. Its historic campus has stunning architecture.

Yale University Art Gallery: Explore the gallery's extensive collection, which spans centuries and continents.

New Haven Green: This 16-acre park in downtown New Haven is a National Historic Landmark.

Day 4: Mystic

Mystic Seaport Museum: This is the nation's leading maritime museum. You can explore historic ships, a recreated 19th-century coastal village, a shipyard, and various exhibits.

Mystic Aquarium: Home to thousands of species including beluga whales, it's a must-visit for nature and marine life enthusiasts.

Day 5: Groton

Submarine Force Library and Museum: Operated by the United States Navy, this museum has exhibits about submarine history. The museum also includes the USS Nautilus, the world's first operational nuclear-powered submarine.
End your tour here, taking in the richness of Connecticut's history, culture, and natural beauty. Be sure to sample the local cuisine along the way, which includes Connecticut's own style of pizza, known as New Haven-style or "apizza".
