Promptly Poetry - Book 3

WAITING

It’s the smallest room in the house,
Big enough for only one.
But always another is waiting outside,
Before the one inside is done.

First, a polite knock on the door
Then the answer: “I’m in here!”
“Please hurry,” is the urging
“My bladder holds more than it can bear!”

Soon the banging on the door grows louder,
Threats are exchanged, tempers flare.
A humming drones, a familiar sound,
“Oh my days, she’s drying her hair!”

Finally the bathroom door opens,
One emerges, one rushes in.
A third contender gets out of bed,
And the cycle begins again.
