Sam Adams was a paranormal researcher,

He was obsessed with finding portals to other universes
Following the infamous occult book, the necromicron.
He finally found a temple that had a door to other worlds.
The wizen monk warned him it was a one-way gate.
Sam Adams opened the door and disappeared.
