The Poet's Place - Trijan Refrain - A Psalm of Praise

Sweetly He sings only to me -
I listen to His voice;
Oh how I so long to be free!
And given such a choice.
Take me sweetly beyond the heights;
I will have no more any frights.
Take me sweetly!

Only on You I've set my sights.

You presence only I may see;
Cover me with Your wings.
I may partake of Heaven's Tree
Your praises I do sing.
Glorious worship I shall shout;
You majesty I do not doubt.
Glor'ous worship!

I only wish to be devout.

Your bounty is beyond degree-
Telling other of You;
Your mercy, freedom it gives me;
I know this to be true.

The Trijan Refrain ▼

Invented by Jan Turner, consists of 27 lines, divided into 3 9-line stanzas. In the original conception, the first line of the first stanza is repeated as the first line in each of the other stanzas. The first four syllables in line 5 are repeated as refrains in lines 7 and 8. The line structures for each stanza are 8-6-8-6-8-8-4-4-8 syllables with a rhyme scheme of AbabccDDc AeaeffGGf AhahiiJJi, as described and demonstrated in the following links:
