Abundance

Jen laid out a table for ten
under a cool sky in her pretty backyard.

Strawberries, cherries, melons and apples
diced and tossed with juicy lemon and honey,
topped with custard and tempting red jelly,
balanced with a variety of vegetable soups
and curries with slices of pumpkin, gourds,
carrots, beets, beans and cool slim cucumbers
amidst which sat a succulent and sizzling turkey.

Family and friends sat around the resplendent
feast and grandpa Jefe offered heartfelt thanks
to the Creator and Mother Nature for blessing
the mankind on this precious occasion of Thanksgiving.
