Just things that I think about now and then. |
Well, if I'm not going to get the words needed for my Unstable(d) writing, then I need to post some words somewhere November 1: What's happening on November 1? National Authors Day - write about your favorite author or any author or author you. This one is pretty easy. JD Robb and her In Death Series; Christine Feehan and her "Dark" series and Jennifer Fallon's Wolfblade Trilogy. I like Jennifer's world building. It draws you in, and she even has a map showing the different countries and major cities around it. I like JD Robb's In Death series, as it focuses on several different characters - believable and realistic. It is set in 2060, which is a little futuristic, but not "Jetson's" (at least too much like Jetsons...LOL) I like Christine Feehan's Dark series as it focuses on an (almost) immortal species called Carpathians. When they go bad, they become vampires which are more dark and scary than the ones of the fabled Dracula. Again, realistic characters, flawed and damaged, and trying to work things out. November 2nd National Deviled Egg Day This is pretty cool. Deviled eggs can be done so many ways. I just prefer a "plain jane" style. Boiled eggs cooled; then cut lengthwise and removed yolks. Add mayo, a little mustard, the yolks and a little relish. Mix well and use a piping bag to fill the empty whites. In my household, I have to make at least a couple dozen, or I might not get any at all. November 3rd National Sandwich Day - What's your favorite? I have a few different favorites, depending on the weather, etc. I am thinking a hot turkey sandwich with gravy and a side of mashed potatoes, stuffing and cranberries. I could do this instead of having a traditional holiday turkey. As a matter of fact, the kids suggested doing away with the turkey this year. , but I'm all for whatever makes the kids happy. I also don't mind the cleanup on such a plan either. November 4th National Candy Day - What's the best or worst? I haven't met many candies that I would turn down my nose at. Even the peach flavored rings with the red powder that makes them taste tart But as far as the best? It really depends on my mood. Black licorice yum! Baby Ruth, payday, Snickers all rank with me. But then again on occasion, I like a 3 Musketeer bar which is rather plain. M&Ms coffee flavored are really good, but I like Reece's Pieces better than the peanut butter M&Ms. I like the ribbon candy during the holidays, as they bring back memories of family holidays. November 5th Daylight Saving Day - You have an extra hour for this one. I don't like the feeling of it being so dark at about 6pm. It drives me crazy. I do like having light in the mornings, but dark-thirty comes too quickly. I almost feel jet-lagged for some reason. November 6th National Nachos Day You had me at Nachos. But I'm pretty tame when it comes to Nachos. I don't want tomatoes, guacamole, or jalapenos on mine. I like taco flavored meat, lettuce, cheese, and sour cream. Lots of cheese - as I am part mouse (or rat ). I also like smooth taco sauce such as Old El Paso, and not salsa. But hey, I'm picky, and I like what I like. November 7th National Cancer Awareness Day This, unfortunately has hit my family too often and too hard. I am blessed that my youngest daughter survived a kidney cancer at a young age (7) some 25 years ago. But 2 1/2 years ago, I lost a younger sister to multiple myeloma. I have also lost a couple of aunts to breast cancer. It sucks big time. I keep praying that another family member doesn't fall prey to such an insidious monster. |
