Just things that I think about now and then. |
November 28 National Day of Giving Who makes up these days? I'm not really opposed to this day. We (and I also mean me) have way too much stuff. Would it really hurt us to give (donate) things to those who are less fortunate? I've cut my stuff down, and still I probably could get rid of half of it by donating it to goodwill. I do a lot of crocheting. Would it kill me to make some hats for others who cannot buy one? Now I am doing some reflection. If you like your stuff, that's fine and dandy. We just need to remember that a hearse doesn't come with a uhaul attachment. Just my two cents' worth. November 29 Throw Out Your Leftovers Day This really is a pet peeve of mine. I grew up in a home where you ate "leftovers". You stretched your food as far as it could go. You got creative with foods and came up with some interesting combinations to eat. Now, I cannot blame my kids much, as they don't "do" leftovers as much as I do. And every weekend or so, I end up throwing away food that I know they won't eat. I should probably do it more often, but it is a hard habit to break. November 30 National Personal Space Day Everybody needs their space, I get it. But there is a saying I think about, No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. It's hard to believe when everywhere you see, people are glued to their electronic devices. It isn't just the adults, either. Kids are cloistered around electronics, too. It seems no one has time to look up and around. That's more than just personal space - that is isolationism, which is a much bigger problem. Also, just my two cents' worth. |
