As a rule, I try not to judge others, but I am sure that people get caught up in the "crisis" of the moment. There was a big thing of "name it and claim it" where you weren't a true believer unless you were rolling in the dough, as it were. There was a big "Return is Imminent" when the Left Behind books came out. I don't know if it is brainwashing per se, but I do know that people are looking for something to attach themselves to. Then there are the Doomsday Preppers who have stockpiled years of rations from food to toilet paper.

People want to feel relevant, I suppose. The Bible says to be in an attitude of readiness. We know not the day nor the hour, but God alone. If we are taken, or if we die, we are to be ready spiritually. I believe and trust that God will do what is necessary for me.
