"Nulla In Mundo Pax Sincera" (Vivaldi) - Marie Lys
And we're back with the baroque, this time with Vivaldi. It came as a surprise to me when I first encountered this piece on YouTube, as it is much longer than I expected. When I used to listen to a certain commercial classical music radio station in the UK (I don't mention their name as I wouldn't want anyone to think I was giving Classic FM free publicity...oops), they only ever played the first aria. But then, that was their house style - snippets rather than full pieces.
The title translates as "there is truly no peace in the world". When work is being a PITA, and people keep interrupting me, or there is a meeting I forgot about and could well do without attending, I can find myself muttering this phrase under my breath. If I'm going to be a grumbling old bugger, I might as well grumble with a touch of sophistication.
PS When you watch this one, you just know no-one will ever have any difficulty placing the period in which the recording was made.
