"Tracks Of My Tears" - Smokey Robinson and The Miracles

And we're back with Motown and the one and only Smokey Robinson. To my embarrassment I have to confess to never having heard of him in my youth - I was too busy with 1970s glam rock fluff to pay attention to anything else out there. As with a few of the contributions to this blog, I only started to get into a wider range of music as I moved into my 30s. In my defence, his years with The Miracles were a teensy bit too early to show up on my radar - I was just short of 18 months old when this one made it big. (And I haven't changed a bit - still lacking in the hair department and with a propensity to drool.)

The Miracles do look a bit stiff in this recording - Motown definitely got a bit more polished as time went by. But, no disrespect intended, they were almost part of the scenery. There's only one guy on that stage that anyone's looking at.
