Finding the Evidence
I set the coffees down on the table and took my set across from Danika.
"Oh, God. Thanks I so needed this," Danika said as she picked up her mug and dipped her nose to inhale the aroma.
"Don't think about it." I told her before taking a tentative sip of mine. "We've a long night ahead of us."
"This is brutal. I didn't think we'd have to go through all these reports again. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack."
I opened another file and scanned the contents. "What are we looking for exactly?"
"Anything that could help secure Delaney a victory. He figures there has to be something in here to show Carson Roberts hasn't got a leg to stand on."
"I swear we have already combed through this stuff. There's everything from financial records to his daily schedule." I muttered glancing up at the mound of information in front of us.
"Let's look for something not so predictable. Like here in his schedule it has him picking up the babysitter at 5 o'clock..."
"But he and his wife weren't going out until," I grabbed for his wife's statement before stating, "7 o'clock."
"So what did he do during those two hours with the sitter."
"Who's the sitter again?'
Danika consulted the report again before saying, "Kinsley Adams. She's 17."
"Odd to still be babysitting at that age. Most kids are working something a bit more steady with a solid income base."
After some paper shuffling I grabbed another sheet. "Seems our Ms. Adams is already part of the elite class. Doesn't need the money. Daddy fits the bill. So why the babysitting gig?"
