E-1: Precognition

Can you tell the future? Create a blog entry (or static item) giving us the events that would transpire on this date: December 21st, 2024. (<1000 words)

A thousand years ago (more or less), life was complicated in a different way and dragons roamed the land with their princesses and knights, and magic was more than just illusions made by quick minds and fingers. In the human world, magicians and witches cast spells with no more thought than we take opening a smart phone or asking a question on the internet.

But then came the great sleep. All the magic in the world was worn out from much use. Humans discovered that it no longer worked as it once had, and magical creatures needed rest to recharge. Elves disappeared beneath hills and through stone circles, goblins hid deep in dank dens, and dragons abandoned their skies for caves where they could sleep.

But just because it was time for magic to sleep for a while, did not mean it would remain dormant forever. Just as winter cycles into spring, so in a thousand years, little magics have begun to wake up.

And of course, on the shortest day of this year, 21 December 2024, that's the day when the dragons are due to wake up, stretch, and go hunting for treasures once again.
