My Shadow - Week 33

yesterday afternoon
she followed me home
she's a hanger-on for sure
trailing behind me
copying my every move
I wouldn't mind
but she’s taller and thinner than I am
Today
I decided to tell her off
I waited at midday
She was nowhere to be found
until I looked down
and I saw that
she’d become fat
and stumpy
I felt sorry for her until
I realized
yesterday
she was the past
that followed me
but today
she is my future
