Travel- Lighthouse
Travel Prompt: I spend the night in a light house with gale winds and the water splashes all over the lighthouse.

I hate how the winds howl. I am cleaning and rearranging the lighthouse. I promised the committee of lighthouse restoration committee that I would do this. My helper got sick and I am by myself. I keep falling down. It is so windy. I am getting a draft. I am coughing. I should go home but I am not driving in this dreadful rain and wind.

The lighthouse is tough and old but really nice. It has a living room. A nice, rose colored couch and a rocking chair. A wood stove. A bed next door with a pink and white quilt. A brown, rustic trunk that holds quilts. I may need one. An old teddy bear that is brown and faded sits on the bed. He looks lonely. I give him a hug.

I swept and dusted. I put a clean quilt on the bed. The kitchen has old dishes. I cleaned the kitchen with cleanser and rags. The floors are wood. I just swept them. The outside of the lighthouse is brick I guess. It is white with red and blue. I love the lighthouse but there is no modern aspects about it. I am using a kerosene lamp. It is on Maine and a hundred years old or more. It is getting dark and I am scared. The wind sounds awful and sounds like someone yelling for me. My cell phone has no signal. I am ready to cry.

I see a man dressed like a man from Titanic standing in front of me. He looks like Captain Gregory of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. He is handsome but I know he is a ghost. I stifle a scream.

"I won't hurt you. I am the lighthouse keeper Joseph Scaffield. You need comforting. I will stay until the winds calm down. It looks nice. You have been busy."

I nodded. "I am Megan Rose. I am scared."

I start to cry. The ghost hugs me. He tells me he was the lighthouse keeper. He has saved a lot of ships by keeping the lights on. He fell from the upstairs when he tried to fix the light, the beacon one stormy night. He drowned. He said he had a wife and daughter and they lived here. His daughter grew up and got married. She became a artist. His wife remarried. He said he came back in his ghost form and checked on them. He was happy. He died when he was 38.

I told him I was helping to restore this lighthouse. I am an author and used to be a nurse. I wasn't married, yet.

We talked. He told me he loved the ocean and the lighthouse. I liked him. Before we knew it, the winds calmed down. He said he was glad he had met me. I told him I was glad I had met him. He disappeared.

The next morning, James and Lucy showed up. They were part of the lighthouse committee. They were glad I was alright. They said I did a nice job with the lighthouse. I smiled. I had some help from Joseph, the lighthouse keeper. They were shocked. I laughed. They laughed and took me out for breakfast. Joseph. I will never forget him.
