The Origins of Magic - Week 49
Before there were words of incantation,
Before any stories could be told,
Before an understanding of the darkness,
Shivering in the cold,
We found light.

The fire scorched the mountain tops,
The fire raged through forests dry.
The fire defied the enveloping darkness,
In its wake, a booming cry
It was light.

In that day when we harnessed the fire -
United in purpose, to conquer the night.
In that day, our history began,
Inscribed for the future to understand -
Painting on the walls, drawings in the sand
The magic in our hands.

Written for Promptly Poetry

Poem should be inspired by the prompt word - Magical
