24. Mince Waffles (can't eat carbs ALL the time;))

Admit it, peeps!

You thought I were done after "36. Chocolate – Potato Chip – CookiesOpen in new Window., "6. Umami Chocolate Chip CookiesOpen in new Window., or "21. Hattie's BAK- & Laura's BRAT-lava (sausaged carbs!)Open in new Window..

You thought one can't do something whackier than put chocolate chips and two types of potato chip into one cookie, pancetta into chocolate cookies, or bratwurst into baklava?

Well, it's ME, so think again. *Smirk2*

So here a foreshadowing question: what is the craziest stuff you ever put in a waffle iron? Yep, we're talking Whacky Waffles!*Wink*

I suspect it wasn't anything like what'll follow, and if yes, dubious kudos to you.*Angelic*

I also just realized that this might be the perfect dish to prep for my (HARRUMPH pregnant HARRUMPH) novel-/shorts'-series heroine, Laura.*Idea* Dude, imagine Vince when he realizes what she's just served up for breakfast!*Shock2**Rolling*

Okay, something didn't really add up with the quantities of the ingredients.*Think* I used exactly the same amounts as in the recipe but only two (instead of six) waffles came out!*Shock* Well, maybe there are different "interpretations" as to what a thin flatbread is*Thinker*, and mine didn't match because I stood drooling in the kitchen because it smelled so bloody divine already in the raw, and I FINALLY WANTED TO BLOODY EAT!?*Sob*

BUT: did I have one sating dinner!*Rolling*

So off to the kitchen, I suppose!*Smirk2*

Serves: 6 Recipe; 2 Me

Prep Time:
45 minutes Even me*ThumbsUpGreen*

Degree of Difficulty:
Easy

WE NEED

Waffles

1 slice
of sandwich bread Wholegrain spelt here
1/2 onion Red one here
1 garlic clove
1 egg
250 gr / 9 oz. mixed mince beef + pork
1 tbsp
mustard Dijon
Salt
Pepper

Sour Cream

250 (500)gr / 8.8 oz. (1.1 lb.)
Quark 20% fat
100 (200) gr / 3.5 (7) oz. natural sour cream NOT flavored, sweetened or otherwise ruined; 24-30% fat
1/2 (1) red onion
1 (2) garlic clove(s)
25 (50)gr / 0.9 (1.75) oz. herbs e.g. parsley, dill, cress, chives, chervil, sorrel, borage, burnet; fresh or frozen
1.5 (3) tbsp vinegar Like Aceto balsamico, dark or light
1/2 (1) tbsp sugar
1/2 (1) tsp salt
1/4 (1/2) tsp pepper

Peel + Chop onion & garlic and whisk together with the rest of the ingredients. For BEST taste, use the fat quantities I offered... flavor needs loads of fat, and the more you eat, the quicker you're sated MEANS: you can't eat so much at once, for those worrying about cholesterol.*Idea*

Grease / Oil for the waffle iron

WE DO

1. Dice
the bread and soak it in a bit of water. I used about 1-1.5 oz. of milk

2. Peel, dice + sauté
onion + garlic in 1 tbsp hot oil. I used Canola.

3. Mix
them in a bowl together with egg, mince, mustard, salt, pepper and the – squashedbread and shape 2-6 flatbreads. Maybe one reason why the "flatbread-making" didn't work... too much liquid left in the mix? But I did squash!*Think*

4. Heat + grease the waffle iron – Also Canola oil here – and fry the mince-flatbreads.

5. Serve with handmade sour cream.
